Art Education Advocacy
Art education is important because it helps students with creative problem-solving skills. It teaches children how to collaborate and communicate. Art also helps with building confidence.
Creative problem-solving skills are important because sometimes a conventional way of thinking does not always work. When students are creating, they are using conceptual and interpersonal thinking. Which, helps them build critical thinking skills like observation, reasoning and problem-solving. These skills are important because, in today's world, jobs are looking for people who are creative thinkers. According to Microsoft, workers who can think outside the box are a critical asset to help businesses overcome challenges and find new opportunities.
Art teaches children to collaborate and communicate. Children learn to work together to achieve a common artistic goal. It forces them to communicate with one another and to also compromise when needed. Children will feel like they contributed to something no matter how small their contribution was. Collaboration helps students grow as artists by feeding off of each others' ideas.
Lastly, students can explore their creative talents and build their confidence. Art helps students gain a sense of pride, encourages them to take more risks and to create more. Which, helps them build their confidence to talk about their artwork in a safe space. In a normal classroom setting, they might not get the opportunity to do that.
Art education is important because students gain creative thinking skills to help them with jobs. They learn to communicate and collaborate so they grow as artists. And, they also learn to build confidence in their creative talents.
